Detox/Cleanse

2-Day Cleanse (plan including ingredients)

HI all,

Happy Thanksgiving Sunday!  I am looking forward to our 2-day cleanse beginning tomorrow!  I was reading Natural Health Magazine last night and was inspired by their diet detox, so I’ve combined their plan into mine.  It’s a very gentle cleanse & I believe you’ll find it to be easy and satisfying.

This cleanse will help flush out all the toxins, food additives, pesticides that build up and will reduce inflammation & restore alkalinity within the body.  As a result, you will feel more clarity, energized and will be better equipped to fight all the colds and viruses around you.  The plan including ingredients is provided in the link below.

2 Day Cleanse

Enjoy the cleanse & let me know how it’s going.

2-Day Cleanse

This cleanse will help adjust/diminish your mental stress, flush out all the toxins, food additives, pesticides that build up and will reduce inflammation & restore alkalinity within the body.  As a result, you will feel more clarity, energized and will be better equipped to fight all the colds and viruses around you.

NOTE:  As with any diet or fitness plan, it’s advisable to seek doctor’s approval prior to participation.
Day 1

* Upon rising:  drink 1 large cup (10-12 ozs) of warm water (purified) with lemon and cayenne pepper.  Heat on stove, not microwave.   Water will help flush waste ,lemon helps make you more alkaline, & cayenne pepper stimulates circulation.

Note:  I would just add a small amount of cayenne first – add more if you like.

* Spend 3-5 minutes in gratitude.  Think of all the things you are grateful for.  Visualize them ~ focus on your breath during this exercise. Take nice long, deep, breaths.

* Do some form of exercise or movement for 20 minutes (if you would prefer doing this in the evening, that’s fine – just make sure your activity is completed 2-3 hours prior to bedtime)

Breakfast:
Green Juice or smoothie (if making smoothie, I would cut amounts of romaine, kale and cucumber in half)

Will help to detox the liver

2 heads of romaine lettuce
1 bunch kale
1 1/2 inch piece of fresh ginger
2 cucumbers (medium)
1 lemon (juiced – no rind)
Add purify water as needed.

Should make enough for 2 – 16 oz servings.

Prep potassium broth for dinner (both days)

2 cloves garlic
1 1-inch piece of ginger
2 yams
1 onion
2 stalks celery
1 carrot
1 bunch of parsley
1 bunch of beet greens
1 medium-sized acorn squash, skinned & diced
1 1/2 -inch strip of kombu

Put in pot, cover with purified water and cook over lower heat for 3-4 hours.  Let cool, strain and save the liquid, discard veggies except squash.  Blend squash with some of the broth to create a liquid consistency and then add it back to the remainder of the broth.  Add cayenne to taste, which increases circulation.  Set aside to cool & then refrigerate for later.

*NOTE:  if you don’t have time to cook over low heat for 3-4 hours, cook on medium-high heat until boiling, lower to simmer for 30 minutes and continue remainder of recipe.

Mid-morning snack
Drink the remainder of your green juice or green smoothie

Lunch (try to eat around noon)
Eat a large, fiber-rich salad
Spinach, sprouts, avocado, tomatoes, cucumbers.  Use a homemade dressing such as cold-pressed olive oil,  1 clove of garlic,  1 bit of grated ginger, lemon and lime juice.

Afternoon snack (3pm-ish)
Small handful of almonds.  Tea that aids in digestion – licorices, peppermint, ginger, etc.  Also, feel free to make additional green juice of smoothie (no fruit).

Dinner (6pm-ish)

Eat/drink a bowl of broth, followed by a bowl of quinoa (protein-packed) and a big salad of seasonal veggies & avocado.

Before bed

* If hungry – drink another cup of broth.

* Cleansing breath work:   Take a few minutes – practice breath awareness – breath in and out through the nose (exhale should be twice as long as inhale).  As you breath in – think of the healing you are giving your body, by helping to lighten your consumption & nourishing your body with healthy & detoxifying foods – and — on the exhale, imagine the toxins leaving your body.

* Reflect on the day – express your gratitude -  (15-30 minutes). Lay on your back allowing every part of your body to relax and sink into the floor beneath.  Journal if desired.

Day Two

* Upon rising:  drink 1 large cup (10-12 ozs) of warm water (purified) with lemon and cayenne pepper.  Heat on stove, not microwave.   Water will help flush waste and lemon helps make you more alkaline, cayenne pepper stimulates circulation.

Note:  I would just add a small amount of cayenne first, add more if you like.

* Spend 3-5 minutes in gratitude.  Think of all the things you are grateful for.  Visualize them ~ focus on your breath during this exercise. Take nice long, deep, breaths.

Do some form of exercise or movement for 30 minutes (if you would prefer doing this in the evening, that’s fine – just make sure your activity is completed 2-3 hours prior to bedtime)

Shower and use natural brush – brush arms, legs towards heart.  Always brush towards heart (send blood to heart).  Brush helps to increase circulation and detoxify the skin.

Breakfast
1 cup pineapple
1 cup berries of your choice
2 cups almond milk
1 tablespoon flax oil
2 tablespoon spirulina (or chlorophyll powder)

Add purified water as needed

Lunch (try to eat around noon)
Steamed broccoli, onions to help clean arteries, raw beets to purify your blood and strengthen you heart.  Toss in some greens – romaine, spinach or red leaf & drizzle with olive oil and lemon.

Afternoon snack (3pm-ish)
Small handful of nuts (almonds, brazil nuts).  Tea that aids in digestion – licorices, peppermint, ginger, etc.

Dinner (6pm-ish)

Eat a bowl of broth, followed by a bowl of brown rice and fresh salad of arugula or spinach salad with a piece of avocado.

Before bed

* If hungry – drink another cup of broth or green juice.

* Cleansing Breath Work:  Take a few minutes – practice breath awareness – breath in and out through the nose (exhale should be twice as long as inhale).  As you breath in – think of the healing you are giving your body, by helping to lighten your consumption and on the exhale, imagine the toxins leaving your body.

* Reflections:  Reflect on the two days — spend 15-30 minutes in gratitude – write in your journal, meditate.  Thank yourself for giving your body & mind a 2-day respite.  Sleep well knowing you care enough to give yourself this gift during the holidays!   :-)
