Kicking off my cleanse with the Banberry Popeye+
Today is day 1 of my 2012 Jumpstart cleanse! I decided to have a green smoothie this morning to celebrate!
Cranked up the antioxidants, potassium and omega 3′s with lots of mixed organic berries (about 1 cup), 1 banana, spinach (1 big handful) and added some Salba* about 1 tablespoon and topped off with filtered water. It was truly yum!
*Salba is a whole grain from peru – high in omega-3, antioxidants, fiber, protein, calcium and iron – tastes a lot like chia and plumps up when liquid is added to it. You can get your favorite natural food store.
Zumba recovery – powered by kale
Great Zumba dance party today! I am home and decided to heavy it up on the kale to give me even more nutrients. So, I made about 16 oz of amazing green juice!
-4 leaves of dinasaur kale
-1/2 cucumber
-5 stalks of celery
-a tiny bit of parsley
Crunchy Spinach, Avocado, & Beet Salad
This was a great salad! A MUST share :-)
1 bunch organic spinach
1 beet (cooked and quarterd)
1/4 red onion thickly sliced
1 avocado cut into chunks
combine in bowl, drizzle dressing and top with spicy kale chips
dressing: 1 tsp dijon mustard, juice from 1 lemon, 1 clove garlic minced
kale chips – heat oven to 350 -rinse kale (I used 1/2 bunch curly kale), place on cookie sheet, drizzle olive oil, add spice – I used cayenne pepper and sea salt – cook 8-15 minutes
Basil Berry Kefir Popeye
This green smoothie is totally yum! If you love basil like I do, your tongue will be delighted by how the basil provides a lovely accent to the rich tart taste of the kefir and the sweetness of the organic strawberries and blueberries!
- 1 cup organic kefir
- 1 cup organic blueberries
- 1 cup organic strawberries
- 1 handful of spinach
- add as much basil as you would like – I added 4 big leaves
- add a bit of a natural sweetener (stevia, honey) if you desire – I used a few drops of stevia
- add ice if you desire (I added a handful)
blend and enjoy! so smooth and tasty & power packed!
